Bishop Sharma Lewis Dedicates Redwood Outreach Center
To commemorate the completion of Phase 1 of the Redwood Outreach Center (ROC), Redwood United Methodist Church is hosting a special combined worship service on October 24th at 10 AM. In attendance and delivering the message will be Virginia Annual Conference Resident Bishop, Bishop Sharma Lewis. Also in attendance will be District Superintendent, Rev. Denise Bates. Immediately following the worship service, there will be a dedication of the Phase 1 of the ROC, a ribbon cutting, and a socially distanced meal.
The service and the dedication will be a time of praising God and a blessing of the ROC, for all that God will do through it. Originally for Georgia, Bishop Sharma Lewis is a thoughtful and dynamic speaker who has held numerous positions across the denomination.
The ROC is a vehicle to further Redwood’s the Redwoods mission to connect the unconnected with a community of faith where Jesus Christ transforms them into world-changing disciples.
The vision for the ROC arose out of a need to reach out and serve the community by providing a Christ centered fully-accessible, non-traditional space. Redwood strives to build life-giving relationships in the community where Christ reaches new people and transforms lives.
The completion of Phase 1 represents the following being accomplished:
New adult classroom space
A large youth ministry space
His and hers bathrooms with showers for visiting mission teams and service projects
A lower level connection to the existing facility through the hallway in the children’s ministry
A finished corridor in the main level for disability accessible entry to the elevator
All are welcome to come and worship and celebrate this event.
